Bruce Saunders is a regional Queenslander. Bruce was born and went to school in Longreach. Throughout his working life Bruce has worked all over Queensland. He and his wife, Jenni, made a home and started their family in Maryborough in the 1980’s. Bruce started his working life as an announcer on 4MB.
Bruce is a strong family man who firmly believes that quality education and health services are vital to any community.
Bruce has been involved in retail business for most of his working life. Bruce boasts over twenty five years experience as a small business owner. Bruce knows all too well, the day to day pressures on local businesses and indeed all community members. Bruce has observed first hand, the debilitating impacts of the Newman government’s vicious attacks on jobs and services in Maryborough. Rising unemployment, falling incomes and a reduction in basic services are all core to the negative impact this LNP government has had on all hard working Queenslanders. Bruce is committed to paving a strong way forward for the Maryborough electorate.
Maryborough boasts a proud position in Queensland’s history since it was established as a township and port in the 19th century. The heritage values of Maryborough city are well known. Bruce is keen to capitalise on its strong heritage and environmental values to get Maryborough moving again. The electorate of Maryborough also boasts the natural beauty of the Mary River and Wide Bay coastline from Burrum Heads to Toogoom.
Bruce firmly believes solutions to local problems are found by working together as a community.
